Di-sec-octyl Phthalate (DCP, CAS 131-15-7) is a versatile general-purpose plasticizer with exceptional compatibility across PVC, rubber, and various polymer systems. Its branched-chain molecular structure provides superior low-temperature flexibility and excellent processing characteristics at various temperature ranges. With ≥99% content, acid value ≤0.30 mgKOH/g, and flash point ≥198°C, DCP delivers consistent performance in PVC products, rubber processing, coatings, adhesives, and synthetic leather applications. As an eco-friendly alternative to some traditional phthalates, DCP offers lower volatility and excellent durability, ensuring long-term product performance in demanding environments.
Application Details
In PVC products, DCP provides excellent plasticizing efficiency with good compatibility across rigid and flexible formulations. For rubber processing, it acts as both a plasticizer and processing aid, improving flow characteristics and reducing mixing energy. Coatings and adhesives benefit from DCP's good solvency and film-forming properties, producing flexible, durable finishes. In synthetic leather manufacturing, DCP delivers soft hand-feel and excellent embossing retention, making it suitable for upholstery and automotive interiors.

DCP vs DOP: DCP (di-sec-octyl phthalate) uses branched-chain octanol, while DOP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate) uses 2-ethylhexanol. DCP offers better low-temperature flexibility and processing characteristics due to its branched structure, but slightly lower plasticizing efficiency. DOP provides better electrical insulation properties. Both face similar regulatory scrutiny as phthalates. For applications prioritizing low-temperature performance and processing ease, DCP is preferred; for electrical insulation and general-purpose applications, DOP may be more suitable.
