For procurement teams evaluating a plasticizer factory in China, factory images and verifiable capacity numbers matter more than marketing copy. This article takes you inside the Jining Wansheng DOTP factory — a 150,000-ton-per-year circular-economy plant operated by Shandong Changxing Plastic Additives in Wenshang Chemical Industrial Park, Shandong. Through drone aerial photography taken on 9 August 2026, you will walk the same path a buyer audit would follow: from the recycled-PET feedstock yard, through the distillation towers and biomass gasifier, to the finished-product tank farm and on-site laboratory. If you have ever wanted to visit a plasticizer factory before signing a supply contract, this tour is the next best thing to being on site.
This article is for PVC compounders, plastic product manufacturers and procurement professionals evaluating Chinese DOTP factory capacity, quality systems and green-manufacturing credentials.

A Drone-Eye View: Wansheng From North to South
The cover image of this article — a drone shot looking south across the Wansheng DOTP factory — captures the entire plant in a single frame. Reading the image from foreground to background, you can trace the path a recycled PET bale takes through the plant: it enters at the blue-roof raw-material warehouses in the foreground, moves into the reaction workshop with its distillation towers and reactor group in the middle, and exits as finished DOTP stored in the white finished-product tank array beyond. To the right of the tanks sits a small tower structure — the biomass gasifier — and just above it, the on-site laboratory.
This layout is not accidental. Shandong Changxing Plastic Additives designed the Wansheng plant around the logic of circular-economy chemical manufacturing: feedstock receipt, reaction, purification, storage and quality control are arranged in a single linear flow that minimises internal transport and reduces cross-contamination risk between raw material and finished product.
The Circular-Economy Raw-Material Yard
Every plasticizer factory tour starts where the feedstock arrives. At Wansheng, that feedstock is not virgin petroleum-derived terephthalic acid — it is recycled PET, collected from discarded clothing cuttings, fishing nets, dust-protection netting and agricultural film. The blue-roof warehouses visible in the aerial photo below are where this feedstock is received, sorted and prepared for the chemical recycling process that turns waste polyester into premium DOTP plasticizer.
The scale is significant. Wansheng consumes over 40,000 tons of waste material every year, diverting polyester waste that would otherwise be landfilled or incinerated. This is the same recycled-PET-to-DOTP technology used at the parent company's Changxing plant — the process is identical across the group, as we explain in our article on closing the recycled-PET-to-DOTP loop. The chemical output is molecularly identical to petroleum-derived DOTP; only the feedstock origin differs.
The Core Production Workshop: Distillation Towers
Moving past the raw-material yard, the tour enters the heart of the Wansheng plasticizer factory: the reaction and purification workshop. This is where the recycled PET melt reacts with iso-octanol through catalytic esterification and transesterification, producing crude DOTP that must then be purified to premium-grade specification.
The aerial image above shows the dense cluster of silver distillation towers, refining reactors and continuous de-alcoholization units — more than 60 advanced pieces of equipment installed during the second-phase upgrade, as covered in our report on Wansheng's 150K-ton DOTP capacity expansion. According to Wang Qingkang, Chairman and General Manager of Jining Wansheng Environmental Protection Materials Co., Ltd., the upgraded equipment removes impurities from the recycled-PET feedstock effectively enough to achieve a color number below 100 — the threshold for premium-grade DOTP used in wire and cable, automotive interior, food-contact film and toy applications.
"Our current annual production capacity has reached 150,000 tons, and we are planning an additional 150,000 tons to build a 300,000-ton production base."
The Biomass Gasifier: A Green-Energy Highlight
One of the most distinctive features visible in this plasticizer factory tour is the biomass gasifier — the small tower structure located between the finished-product tanks and the laboratory. This unit uses recycled grain-straw pellets, which are gasified to produce biomass gas that heats the thermal oil circulating through the production process. By turning agricultural residue into clean process energy, Wansheng reduces its reliance on fossil fuels and creates a genuine circular-economy link between local farming and chemical manufacturing.
This is not a token sustainability gesture. Thermal-oil heating is one of the most energy-intensive steps in DOTP production, and displacing fossil fuel with biomass gas here delivers a measurable reduction in the carbon intensity of every ton of DOTP leaving the plant. For buyers running ESG scoring on their plasticizer supply chain, the biomass gasifier is one of the few verifiable green-manufacturing features in the Chinese DOTP industry.
Finished-Product Tank Farm
Past the distillation towers, the DOTP flows into the finished-product tank farm — the array of large white storage tanks visible in the cover image and in the close-up below. Each tank is fitted with breath valves, level gauges and containment dykes that meet Chinese chemical-storage safety norms. The tank farm is sized to buffer production output, allowing Wansheng to ship by flexitank, IBC tote or drum without disrupting continuous production.
R&D and Office Area: Looking East
The final stop on this drone tour of the Jining Wansheng factory takes us to the eastern side of the site. Shot from a west-to-east aerial perspective, the image below shows the office and research complex that supports the production plant: the R&D center, the main laboratory, the duty dormitory for shift engineers and the staff canteen.
The on-site laboratory within this complex is where every batch of DOTP produced at Wansheng is tested for color (APHA), acid value, moisture, volume resistivity and ester content before release. The lab operates under the group's ISO 9001 quality management system, and full Certificate of Analysis documentation accompanies every shipment. For buyers requiring third-party verification, SGS reports covering phthalate screening (CPSC-CH-C1001-09.4), PFAS screening and EN 71-3 toy-safety compliance are available on request.
Although Wansheng operates as an independent production subsidiary, its R&D and quality systems are tightly integrated with the parent company Shandong Changxing and the Wansheng group profile. The parent company holds the group's ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 management system certifications, and the technical team based at the Wansheng R&D center works on continuous process improvement — including the recycled-PET feedstock purification, biomass gasification integration and color-number reduction programmes described earlier in this tour.
